I had the windshield in my 07 E550 replaced today. While replacing it, the tech apparently tore a wire. It was a 4 pin connector with a rj-11 (phone style connector) on it that was running to somewhere around the middle of the windshield area at the bottom. He thinks it was something aftermarket, I don't but we couldn't find anyplace that it could be plugged in.

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be for?

Good call. I hope you're correct. Haven't driven it yet as he just left but a cursory check in the driveway showed nothing to be wrong. It did have 4 wires though, Black, Red, Green and Yellow.

Yeah that's not an OEM connector, probably had a radar detector installed at some point.

That looks exactly like the power connector on a Valentine 1 radar detector so as the others have said you should be fine.

Thanks. I'm going to assume that is what it was for. The fact that there were 4 wires made me think it could have been something else. Usually power accessories like that only use 2 wires. I've put a few miles on it now and nothing appears to be wrong.
