I've been having the same issue. The delay is slight but it is there. Upon investigating, I saw a small amount of fuel pooled at the rear of the filter. Not 100% sure where it's coming from. Starting with hose connections. Hoses are original at 168k miles and secured with screw clamps. I'm going to replace the tank/filter hose and cut off a bit of filter/pump hose and use clic clamps and see where things stand.

Cheers,
I'm wondering if this may be my issue. And wonder what would cause a filter to leak from the center.

Ah! Thank you.

Yes. I have had several leaks around the fuel filter and even changed all the hoses and "click clamps" on them. No problems with stinky smells but I guess it takes a vigilant attitude to stay ahead of problems.
