New member and new to the Benz world. Just recently purchased my first benz 05 E500.
So I just recently purchased my fist benz.it's a 2005 E500. I'm looking to do some upgrades to the radio as in Bluetooth and would like to add a back up camera but want to keep the factory look as it is a beautiful mechine. Also want to purchase a scanner for codes and reset service as I will be doing my own basic service work but mainly to reset my SRS warning light, so could some one point me in the right direction for a scanner? I'm also confused about why it keeps telling me my sos tele system malfunction. Just really looking for a place to turn to for input and help with stuff. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Welcome to MBWorld and grats on the w211 pickup. Most any ODB2 scanner should do a good enough job pulling diagnostics codes, but to get more into the system, you'll need a STAR diagnostics machine.
Let us know if upgrading the lighting is on your mod list. We have plug and play whiter and brighter canbus LED/HID lights for her. Parking lights, rear plates, low beams, interior, fogs, etc are all popular upgrades

Star Diagnostic is the MB system for scanning, but there are several other 3rd party scanners that will also scan MB specific sub systems like SRS. Cheapest is probably the X431 Launch Easy Diag Plus which comes with software for 2 car manufacturer, around $48 on eBay. Then there's icarsoft, carly and a few others. They also let you clear the code, but my guess is that it will just come back unless you fix the error.
Do a search for the teleaid. I forget exactly what the problem is with the older systems, not sure if your year was when they switched frequencies and it became obsolete.

This is nick from the original post of this. Changed my profile name. Any way the only thing I found out about the tele aid malfuction is that it went to digital or was digital and went to something else and the car doesn't support it. But it isn't a recall or warranty thing so I guess I just deal with the prompted message. And thanks for the advice on a scan tool. I will be looking into one soon. Does anyone have or know how to get my hands on a command navigation disk for the w211? The one that came in the car is the wrong one and will not work. So I have no navigation. And I also can't clear out my service due or over duet messages. I have tried everything I have read in here about resetting and confirming full service and canceling full service but keeps telling me can not confirm cancelation. Any ideas??

Nav disk are available on ebay. Try searching videos on youtube for how to confirm service on w211.
