'05 E320 CDI feedback (Low miles) ..
Have one probably coming up FS in near future...Has under 20K miles, one owner, dealer maintained and is suppose to be in pristine condition..
I made a post in the Diesel Section too but doesn't seem to be much going on over there.
What should be the top dollar for this car and should this be pursued?
Thanks

Pursue.
I've been a Diesel fan since the late 90's and my '05 CDI is the best one so far. Almost 120K miles (20K from me) and zero regrets.
It is as quiet as most gassers (TONS of sound deadening insulation both under the hood and in the passenger cage).
The engine pushes the car like a freight train. It'll comfortably achieve 120 mph without breaking a sweat (on a closed track, of course...)
Some folks are scared of the SBC brake system, but I can tell you from experience that it is an absolutely magnificent piece of car stopping technology. Sure, it'll need a cash infusion at some point but I defy you to find a better braking system in that era of car.
It'll easily give you the rated mileage of 27-37 mpg, even with a heavy foot. 40+mpg is attainable with a modicum of control.
The only time I've ever seen the exhaust is at night with a car's headlights behind me and my foot deep into the go pedal. It doesn't put out much gray smoke, much less black soot.
I paid $11K for mine back in January and it had 100K miles on the clock. Keep us posted on what you might pay for that one.

Prices for very low mileage, pristine car can be all over the place, so can't help you much there, but don't be fooled by "dealer maintained"
Just this summer I bought "dealer maintained" 320 Bluetec. With 160+k miles the car was pristine outside, but I put $600 in parts alone to clear the mess dealer mechanics made under the hood.
Packed up air filters, bend clips that let the fuel hose fly, kinked intercooler hoses with cracks in them.
So take your time and do really good PPI with special attention to Black Death

We do have DIY for SBC pump on the forum already.
Regardless DIY, that is still pretty expensive maintenance on the car, so make sure your PPI will read the pedal push count.
Low mileages don't have to mean the driver did not push the pedal 1/2 million times already, what would mean the pump can become due anytime.
Last reviews were $800 for the pump + other costs.

This is what I am reading too, usage counter can predict when it would need changing/attention, is that correct?
I guess PPI can address that, right?
Thanks

If any shop offering PPI on MB did offer reading SBC count, I have never heard about it.
IMHO if you are planning to make high offer on such car, you better have your own SD.
You will need it sooner or later.

225k on my 2005 cdi never an SBC issue although something was done early on via recall. Pump was activating often before sold when you open the door just before starting.
I do not buy the counter theory. Heck a day or two in the city or Chicago rush hour could clock 500 brake hits.

My '05 CDI is at 165,000 miles and no problems ever with the SBC or any brake components. I am rigorous about maintenance including the fluid flush every two years and am pretty mild on the brakes.
