I have the red message going on this days, and it feels like the braking is more direct, not soft as usual.. When they changed the sbc unit, they also changed the pressure accumulator??

Ok so it turned out there were some issues with the grounding so mechanic said he updated it, not sure what that means though. He also said it needed a new some kind of hose? So once it's installed and bled with the new hose he thinks it will be working as it should now. I'll get the car back by the end of the day so we shall see..

So it was a brake suction hose they had to replace and after bleeding and flushing brake fluid, everything seems to be in order. The brakes are stiff and more responsive and best of all I don't have to turn the ignition 20 times to remove the red warning message. Total cost including part and labor came out to around $1500, which seems to be a fair price.

Can you post a pic of the mentioned hose please.

I have the same message and will try everything before buying an sbc unit.

If attached recalls are applicable to your VIN, check with local MB dealer to confirm they were completed by having them check VMI. If not, repair is free. Bulletin covers suction hose, don't think this is your problem though.

Glad to see advice given 3 years ago still has good value, regardless forum troll trying to hijack the dispute.

Reduced Braking Power Start Engine but won’t start

Upon restarting the car (sometimes it takes more than once) the message would go away and the car seems to drive fine. But when I drove with the message on it had the ABS error sign on and the brakes seemed a little off, and didnt feel like it was grabbing it. What might be the problem here?

You will have to find out if you have a drain and/or if your charging system is working properly (alternator, voltage regulator, bcm, etc)

next thing ill see, you'll start a thread saying your car is a piece of junk coz you lost your brakes "without" any warning, then youll say youll never buy another Mercedes Benz and how you pay for so much money and it almost killed you.
It could very well be battery alternator. Just had this happen to me. Alternator failed and car shut off and this was the message it was giving me.

It sounds like the intermittent "Reduced braking power" message and ABS warning on your E350 could be related to a few potential issues. One common culprit is the brake booster or the electronic brake control module, especially given the age and mileage of the vehicle. Problems with the brake booster, such as a vacuum leak, can reduce the boost assist to the brakes, leading to a loss of braking efficiency and triggering warning lights. Additionally, faulty wheel speed sensors or connections can intermittently disrupt the ABS system, leading to erratic behavior and warning messages. Electrical gremlins in older vehicles could also cause communication errors between the ABS sensors and the car's control units. To dig deeper into the issue, I recommend checking the fault codes from both the ABS Control Module and possibly the Brake Control Module. These modules will help isolate whether the issue stems from a sensor, a wiring problem, or something more severe like the pump or electronics in the brake system. Using a comprehensive scanner like the youcanic full system scanner will give you access to all these relevant diagnostics. Keep in mind that a basic code reader, such as the Bafx OBD2, might only show generic codes and miss detailed brake system faults. Have you checked if the brake fluid level is adequate and inspected the condition of your brake pads and rotors? Sometimes, these simpler checks can reveal underlying maintenance issues that contribute to warning messages.
