Possible future expenses- Keeping my w211

I recently purchased a new car and was debating on what to do with my 2006 E350. After long thought, and since its not worth more than $5-6 on trade or even $8-9k private sale ( have had it listed for a while) I decided to keep it for a few reasons. Car still looks great for its age, well loaded, clean, served me well, and many of the major components have been replaced while it was under warranty. ( Transmission, Engine mounts, Ac Compressor & blower, pano motor, battery control module, Intake manifold, ball joints, MAF sensor, oil cam leak and more) therefore I thought after all this work it would be stupid to practically give it away...

It does have 123K miles, so my question is what can I expect may be a major expense? Just recently the MAF sensor went out and it was the first out of pocket repair I had since ownership.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Am I reading that you had to have transmission under warranty?

Did you have the balance shaft problem fixed? That's probably affecting sale value.

i did not have the balance shaft issue. At my mileage, I would assume it's past that mark.

If I had a car with that many major repairs I would get rid of it. I purchased my 2011 Hyundai Genesis new in Sept. 2010. I now have 195,000 miles on the Genesis and it has needed only one repair at about 180,000 miles for a fuel tank gauge. So I would be concerned about the build quality of your 2006 e350.

I made the same decision as you with my 2004 E500 220k miles (to keep it) when I found that the new E class comes only in (turbo) 4 cylinder. It looks that you repaired almost anything that needed repairing.
If your E350 has Airmatic you will have to replace those, Arnott bags are quite good, they have lifetime warranty and they are half the MB price.
At the 200k mark you may need to replace suspension arms, links and ball joints. By 2006 they fixed several problems that I had such as fuel tank, heater switch etc.
MB's are known to reach 1/2 mil miles and I would like to get to at least 500k km.

No airmatic so that eliminates a lot of possible issues! Just got a CEL today, hoping it not downhill from here MAF was replaced last week...

It's less likely but it can happen at any mileage. There's a couple of videos on youtube on how to check it.

Well, I decided to keep my 05 E320 CDI as I have recently moved to NY from GA and bought a new W222. It's now kept at my parents house in SoCal. Here is the list of what I had to replace in just under a year of ownership and only 92k

Brake Switch
Harman Kardon Subwoofer
Both Batteries
Panoramic Sunroof motor

I gave it to my dad to replace his 03 E320 with 287k on it. It does prove that they will last forever when properly maintained.
