Front (only) windshield washer squirters not working

2006 E350 Wagon - the front windshield squirters are not working. Rear squirter and wiper works fine. Front wipers work fine.

When the squirter switch is activated I do not hear the pump come on, unlike the rear which I can see and hear is working. Is there a separate pump for the front?

Yes there is a separate pump. Pull it out, if it's not plugged up it's probably just bad.

Thanks. Are the front and rear pumps the same? I'm just thinking I could swap them to verify that the problem is indeed the pump rather than the switch or wiring.

They are almost always the same, at least if the plugs are the same you can swap them and verify as you said if the other one runs. They go bad fairly often, and are usually not too expensive or difficult to replace. Should be a simple fix.

Got a new pump installed and indeed that was the problem. Note, on a wagon there are THREE pumps - the headlights and front windshield are the same; the one for the rear is larger.

Only issue I had was with the plastic retainer cage that holds all three pumps in place. After fighting with it for awhile, I just snipped it so that the pump could be pulled out and replaced. Not ideal, but there's still ample clamping pressure to hold it in place.

But it might be helpful to know what the "trick" is to getting the cage off. It looked like there was some sort of clip securing it, but I wasn't getting underneath the car held up by my neighbor's cheap Chinese jack.
