Good Game????

By crikey what a performance to reset the clock!! Over here we have different times for winter and summer. Last night the clocks go forward one hour so as to give us a longer, lighter working day, so this morning 'the boss' attempted to alter the clock.

Out with the manual,
Go to settings
Instrument Panel
Day, Clock settings

Rubbish, Zilch, no such sub menu. I thought I had successfully graduated and acheived at least a 'Pass' in the reading of the 211 manual. What a failure. Eventually my son figured it out, and as a reward I have kindly allowed him to wash the car.

From my studies I have established that the settings\functions are different on vehicles that have the DVD COMAND system and certain Functions are quite simply not displayed. i.e. Date\Time. (I still have not worked out how to change the date??)

For those that travel across Time Zones does the clock adjust automatically? Or are you going to have a 'Good Game'

Regards
John

This is "old fashioned". Cars equipped with Navigation should only have to set the Timezone. The correct time should have been picked up via GPS. Way to go....

So now your British also adopted the Summer Time, and started calling it "British Summer Time"?

The Summer time is an EU thing. The same all over Europe. I think it's called WET (Western European Time) and WEST (Western European Summer Time). Goodbye Greenwich...

I just got told off for putting too many 'smiley's in my post

I think what I said was:

If 'time' is based on Greenwich Mean Time, then surely you Europeans are copying OUR British Summer Time!!! so there :p (I would like to put a smiley here but I might get told off again)

Anyway, 'she that must be obeyed' has asked me to alter the sundial. (I told her it is to WET to do it) Mind you our British Summer is notorious for being WET (add two smiley faces for my attempt at humour)

Have you altered your clock to WEST or BST or NST????

I heard that Torquay is the English Riviera, and that you have an average of 387 days with sun in a year. Or is it only British brag? (lots of Smileys here)

I stayed up until 3 o’clock last night to adjust my watch. Was it one hour forward or backward?? You know, I always try to do things correct. (2 Smileys here)

You have forgotten that this year is a leap year, so we expect an average of 388 days (loads of smileys here)

My non NAV 211 seemed to automatically adjust to BST when I switched it on this morning. I did not actually see the clock advance, but when I glanced down after a few minutes driving the clock was correct.

Thanks very much for the reply. I would have thought that they would ALL have advanced to BST. My wife went to church this morning so the clock should have advanced. The journey is approximately a six mile round trip. My son manually advanced the clock at approximately midday.

I wonder if the clock picks up a signal through the RDS system? My wife had the radio turned off.

So far no one has responded with the COMAND module.

Thanks again for responding,
John

See P193 of the COMAND manual. It states that the date is automatically picked up via the GPS connection. Don't ask me why the BST time change is not!!!!

Hi again Fastbuck,
Thank you very much for the information. Now I know why I have only got a 'pass' in my degree

I have just looked at the page, and it seems strange that they do not list this under either 'Clock' 'Time' or 'Date'

Bye for now,
John
