2009 E350
Big Balloon Pop!

I have a 2009 E350 w Panoramic Roof. Several times, usually at highway speeds when it is a bit cool outside, but sunny, I get jolted by a loud BANG, that sounds like a big balloon just popped right behind my head. Dealer says they never heard of this happening. And no, it was nothing in the trunk that could have caused this.

Seems like that'd only be a one time deal, and readily noticeable as to the source of the pop...

Flexing, expansion/retraction due temperature may be a precursor to failure.

The panorama roof is a structural member, isn't it?

To the OP: Has the car's body been stressed as it would be in a fender bender? Could there be some unintended stresses and tensions on the roof pillars?
