TeleAid Response Connecting...

Hi all - A second occurrence in the last year follows...

This morning I hit the wrench button to reach a technician. The call answers and I hear popping static sounds. The display indicates the call has 'connected'. But no voice. I try a second time. Same thing.

My third call attempt is made using the "i" button. Same thing. Finally, on attempt #4, my call goes through and I reach somebody.

I am subscribed to teleaid and what's more, this same non-response happened about 8 months ago when I had a flat tire.

I am curious to see if this problem lies in the 'electronics' of my 03. I thought my dealer got all the kinks out a year ago - after replacing a couple modules for the sound system and display...

(BTW - The reason I was calling was because my car's clock automatically adjusted itself an hour forward yesterday morning. And I don't even have the command system - which I was told would be the only way this could happen) LOL

If you subscribe to TeleAid, please be certain to give it a couple tests to ensure your connecting OK...

In Europe they switched time this past weekend, maybe your car longs for Germany

You may find it hard to believe, but you have to adjust the clock manually with COMAND.

You must be right! My car thinks it is still in Germany (so do I!) I wasn't aware time changed this past weekend there. I did have my display module replaced last year - perhaps this is the cause. If so, then the new module doesn't require command to update the time automatically. This is GOOD news as it means it is 'by design'.

I have attempted to use TeleAid on several occasions and I am able to connect about 50% of the time. I had my dealer inspect my unit and they indicate everything is OK. I believe the TeleAid device from Mercedes or their TeleAid network is just weak, especially compared to GM OnStar system. I will definitely not renew when my year is up.

I tried using mine last night, to try out the new feature of being able to schedule your next service appointment via tele-aid. It worked as advertised...

Response Time

I find that the call connection always goes through, however it takes MB personell a L O N G time to get talk to you. Disregard all the messages on the screen after you are told the call has been completed & just hold on... You are in a incoming calling que, and your call "...will be taken by the next available operator..."

The response by GM's Onst@r operators seems to be immediate when compared to MB's response time. but Onst@r is much more expensive. I don't know why all these car companies need to have redundant services anyway. I guess its the Betamax - VHS wars all over again.
