SBC a Problem???
Just got back from the MB dealer and he replied that the SBC sound is normal, and that there is nothing you can do to eliminate it.
Actually he says it is a "relay" (do not know if my translation is correct) which makes the noise.
Just wanted to share with you this info.
Your English is excellent.
A Relay is a type of electrical switch, the noise you should be hearing is a very slight pnuematic (air) noise, plus a mechanical movement. (The brake system 'sets')
Hopefully your national Mercedes-Benz web site will have a section that describes the SBC system.
I will have a quick browse.

Glojo, thanks for your comments and information.
I will follow the link for more info.
I have the noisy brake problem which is very annoying specially when sitting in traffic.
I also notice this when I'm backing out of the garage in the mornings.
Took it back to the dealer and was also told that this is normal...
a little disappointed since this is my first Benz. I have a 5 year old BMW with no noise what so ever!

Only 25% of the vote stated they could hear the noise within the car.
I must confess I would find it unacceptable to have ANY sort of obtrusive noise coming from the vehicle mechanics.
The 211 is a brilliant vehicle that I am more than satisfied with and I feel sorry for those that have this problem.

This is the electronically controlled brakes right? Noise doesn't bother me too much. Usually goes away after a few minutes. It's the software that annoys me. If I press it further than 1/2 an inch, it decides I'm in an emergency brake situation and slams on the brakes. Really bad when trying to park.

The funny thing is that it really doesn't bother me nearly as much as the brake software. I know it's been mentioned before that the later builds "feel" better.
I did drive a new E55 but I wasn't really paying attention to how smooth the car was at stopping. Just a little too busy with the go pedal.
mrod, the dealer is wrong (what a surprise, right?). This is not normal, and a Star bulletin is available to fix the problem. I haven't had it done yet since I'm not due for my first service yet, but they insulate some hoses that apparently is causing the problem.
Thanks for letting me know. I noticed that you're in North Jersey. I'm in Central Jersey and my dealer is Millenium in Bridgewater. If you don't mind, please let me know which dealer informed you of the "fix"....in case Millenium decides to stay in denial about this....
Thanks!
The new blades are much softer and solve the noises and the virbation problems. You just need to
But my main problem is coming from the rainsor which makes the speed of the wipers in auto functiong crazy: less it rains faster they go...
