2006 E500 Wagon
heavy shaking

I have read through everything I can find. During moderate to heavy acceleration (highway on ramp) my 2006 e500 wagon develops a terrible vibration. It feels like the wheels can grab traction. I have had to tire and wheels rotated and balanced. I have switched them out with another set of wheels and tires with no change. Had a front axle shaft replaced due to small leak from transfer case and a torn cv boot and the entire front end checked about 5k miles ago. Shaking started before then. Everything checked out except that one axle shaft. Flex discs were changed about 20k miles ago. Any ideas as to what could cause such a terrible shaking feel and vibration? I'm thinking mounts, but everything on them seems to point to smaller vibrations and at idle which I don't really feel.

I think if your motor and/or transmission mounts have actually failed (and they do and they can), the vibration might be severe. At the least, go ahead and get them looked at.

Also check the center support bearing on the driveshaft. It's mounted in a big rubber doughnut, and if the rubber fails...
It's kind of hard to see, bring a flash light.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked it out and it is definitely worn. The drive shaft is not centered and settled towards the bottom. From what I can see the rubber is cracked and falling apart. The service records I have show flex discs, motor mounts were all replaced 30k ago. I will start here
