W211 battery replacement
Hello,
excuse me for my english in advance, i need a technical advice. I have changed my main (large) battery in my W211 (2004) and someone has told me to write it to the ECU. I have diagnostic Delphi DS150E, i have searched trough all the features that my car offers, but nowhere i have found the battery writing. Does Delphi DS150E offers this option, or do i need other software to code it? If so, which software will cooperate with Delphi cable? Thank you very much for your answers.
Best regards
Peter

I don't think there is any action like that to be taken at all. I hope someone else here will correct me if I am wrong, but a simple change of the battery does not require anything like that.
You may need to go through a simple procedure to re-synchronize your sunroof and your power windows, if they no longer work as they did before-sometimes a battery change will necessitate that. Maybe that is what he meant.
Did you also check your auxiliary battery under the hood? Just curious.

Check all the connections to the 2 batteries. Make sure the cables are good and the negative cable is secure to the body.

The battery protection issue is already resolved, when i replaced the main battery i noticed that the perimeter of the hole that holds the head of the screw on the ?clamp? (i don´t know how they call it in english exactly) was broken and it was impossible to tighten the clamp entirely, in the case of tightening the head of the srew slipped through the hole. So i have changed the batteries uselessly... but at least i have new batteries for the winter.

There is no battery coding into the computer when changing it. At least not in my W203, W211 and R230 for which I changed batteries several times. Batteries only give a "dumb" 12.5V DC and not an entire ID code through the CANBUS like the ignition switch or the instrument cluster. Cars with 2 batteries like the W211 and R230 have a voltage controller that checks the status of the batteries continuously and redirects charging and consumers accordingly. If your display shows a battery/voltage error it is most likely generated by this controller.
