E320 4 Matic vs. E500 4 Matic
I assume that people have compared the two extensively. Does the difference in accelleration and standard equipement justify the extra cost??

I would suggest you drive both back to back if possible and the answer will be clear - only to you though. Once I drove the E500 I didn't even consider the E320. But that was me, you might not find the difference to be that much. You can't go wrong either way. Good luck!

I also test drove the e320 and the e500 (non 4-matic) back to back as suggested by BMcD-E500 and once in the 500, the 320 was never considered again...Can't say for sure what your going to feel in the 4-matic, but I'm sure there will be a big "seat of your pants" difference in aceleration. another thing to consider are the extras you get by choosing the 500, leather, suspension, etc.... For me the extra cost was worth it. Good luck with your decision...

2016 E400 4-Matic Coupe, 2002 Chev 2500 HD Crew, 1983 Porsche 911SC,
gas prices
with gas prices only heading up (I'm in the business...) there will always be a strong resale market for the V6. Still, a little more umph would be nice. I think the E350 will hit the sweet spot between the two.

The way I see it you cannot really compare the two. You must ask yourself why you want the 4-matic. If you tow a speed boat up a slippery boat ramp or a caravan on wet grass, or you do a lot of driving on slippery surfaces, snow, ice, grit, shingle etc. then the 4-matic is perhaps the one to go for. If however it is for general road use then why go for the extra wear and tear of permanant four wheel drive? The E500 is a better road performing car.
Good luck,
John
