need some advice

Ok guys, I know this post is aging a bit, but the wife finally dropped the car off to a local indie. $450 later the seat is back to operational standards.

When she got home and told me the cost, I was blown away. The service report says, $90 to diagnose the issue and $360 to clear and re-code the seat control module.

I'm not pretending to be an expert, of course, I had to take it to a shop to get it fixed. Right? But, hooking up the Star system, reading the issue, and reflashing the seat program should have been a quick job right? Maybe an hour labor? They said there were multiple programs from other years of cars in the computer. What does that mean?
I'm going to call them tomorrow, but sort of wanted to be more educated on this prior to trying to argue the cost. They have a lot of good Yelp reviews too, but holy smokes, this is nuts.

Am I off base for thinking this is too much?

Indy's will charge for anything they do, just like dealers, but $360 to clear and reprogram sounds fishy to me.

You know, buy you can buy a seat control module for $180 on Amazon.

Agree

Ya, I saw that price on Amazon, but wasn't sure if that was the real issue.
$360 just seems outrageous. I'm going to swing by there this week and talk with the owner. I was out of town, so couldn't deal with it.
