Urgent need of your help!!!
First I'm thrilled that I found this site because I'm few hours away from ordering an E500 4Matic and don't wanna make any major mistakes. But consider these and give me your advice.
1. My wife and I agreed 10yrs ago that we should not owe a penny except mortgage, so I can't go beyond my budget of 65K since I'll be paying cash (I truely wish I was as rich as some of you here or atleast have more time to save).
2. Having driven BMW cars for a while, I'm so used to it's agility and power (the new 545 is a design nightmare but still has it's great power and handling), so I gotta have the E500 to make up for power otherwise, a fully loaded E320 4Matic would have met my needs.
3. What's the best discount I can get off of a:
E500 4matic, Appearance Package, Heating Package, Panaroma, NAV and Trunk Opener? My dealer said he could do $3000 us dollars. (Keep in mind this is an 05 and therefore considered a new model).
4. Should I order the 18" AMG or by one after I recieve the car?
5. Since I can only build an 05 model, does anybody know any difference interior or exterior wise?
6. Any performance degradation between the E500 and E500 4Matic?

1. Its always nice to pay it off at one time.
2. Good choice. E500 has a great engine.
3. Cant help you on that, it varies by dealers. Lucky Americans have discounts buying MBs, Canadians dont!
4. Definitely buying after taking delivery. Much cheaper.
5. Dont think there is any change between '04 and '05. If there were, they will only be better. Dont worry!
6. 4Matic means your car is "carrying" 4 wheels instead of two. 4matic is heavier and a tad slower than regular E500. It consumes more fuel too. But 4matic is safer.

I remember when I was at the dealer and we only wanted the premium pkg with navi and xenons (if available). The guy was trying to sell us a new 2003 E320 that did not sell but had all of those things. Ask them if they could find a E500 with those things alreayd built into it. Who knows, you may get lucky!!..

Tell us where you are located. You don't show anything in your signature.
Prices change across the country so maybe someone from your area can steer you in the right direction.
I feel that 65K will buy you a fully loaded E500 in most areas.
There are a couple of dealer reps on the the forum and one should be able to PM you and give you his best shot.
Good luck .....you should be fine if you just hold out for your deal.

65K should easily be able to get you a E500 with Appearance, Premium, Parktronic, and maybe even Keyless Go or some other option.
Note, that the only change for 05 may be the dropping of free scheduled maintenance. See the "MB to provide less" thread.

- Are they really taking orders for '05s for July delivery? Or is this an '04?
- Does the $64,535 include sales tax? Or is that just the car + destination + as guzzler?

yes, this is 05 July delivery....and no, this does not include the sales tax. FYI, the 64500K is after a $3000 discount. Pricing was based on 04 spec but this is the second dealer that suggests MB would not increase prize for the 05 since 04 prices increase just happened few months ago.
BTW, does anybody know of any feature or cosmetic differnce like lights, grill, power mirror fold, etc. on the 05???
