Must Have Options??
Considering either an E320 4Matic or E500 4Matic. What are some of the must have options that should be ordered and what are options are these cars typically delivered with?

Well, I don't know most of the options that come with the car already but as far gettin the options, your list should include the COMAND system along with the Comfort/Convenience Pkg. If you're not into that sporty look, then the best way to go is to get tha Premium Pkg becuase it includes alot of things for a good price....

At a bare minimum, the Premium Package, followed by the Appearance Package. That's what I got on mine.
The only other option I regret not ordering is the Keyless Go.
I would also get the auto trunk closer now, as you really have to slam that dang trunk to get it to close.

2003 E500
In terms of my car, which is a 2003 E500, options which I have found particularly valuable, meeting or exceeding my expectations, are airmatic suspension (at least it was an option if you got the 320), the panorama sunroof, parktronic parking assistance, and multicountour seats.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
Electronic Trunk Closer. I think I suggest this one to everyone lol. It is very convienent and its not exactly expensive so I would highly recomend it. There will be times when you are glad you ordered it.

Panoramic roof. It is one of those options that unless you order the car you will probably not be able to get off the lot. If you live in a hot area I would also go with the solar panels. These two options while not cheap do make your E Class a technolgically superior car to the S Class in my opinion as the only other way to get solar powered cooling fans is to go for the Maybach.
(Of course arguably the E Class is already technologically superior even without the solar panels. Consider the S Class has out dated brakes, a less appealing interior - at least when comparing the E with the Appearance Package-, and basically is a decade older design. With the S you do get more legroom in the back, but that is about it.) [Just don't copy and paste this to the S Class forum, as I'm sure they may not take too kindly to the comparison. ]
(But then again, when the new S comes out next year it will probably trump the E at that time, that is if the dollar hasn't recovered from its skid relative to the Euro. In that event all bets are off as we will be like the customers in Singapore who already have to pay over a hundred thousand dollars to get into an entry level S Class.)

03 White on Stone E320
The only must have options I found are xenons, body kit, and a footrest. Why this $50,000 car doesn't come with a footrest is beyond me. Maybe the pano moonroof with solar panels if you live in a hot area.
I don't find the Airmatic to make enough of a difference. Comand isn't exactly a model of ergonomics (but at least it's not I-Drive), like most of the controls in the car. Keyless go is cool, but not really useful and the bugs reported about it are kinda scary.

i would say nav--even though it's extremely annoying that you can't turn off the radio without turning off nav, so i have to mute the radio when i'm not playing a cd--because it's rather pointless getting a car this expensive without nav. then the HK system, for the same reason, unless you're deaf; otherwise, you'll be second-guessing yourself for not getting a lexus with a mark levinson system that everyone raves about (fyi, mark levinson is made by HK )

Not in any order of preference
Bi-Xeon Headlights
DVD COMAND
Garage Door Opening
Hands Free Telephone
***Linguatronic (I wanted it)
*** The trouble is US Linguatronic is only half the full product.
The other must have options are for the Estate so I will not list them.
I am disappointed with the quality of the Parktronic, compared to the S210. If it was as good as the previous model, then that would be on the list.
