E350 Headers

need help/advice:
I have been searching for exhaust headers for my e350. I can't seem to find any other than Kleeman. I have come to terms with the price point, but i live in California with smog emission tests every 2 years. Kleeman headers include a high flow catalytic converter with no Oxygen sensor. I don't want to trick the computers and all that just to pass, but i would like an ECU tune as well.

Does it make sense to buy kleemann setup (header, cat, and ECU tune) and swap out their high flow cat for my stock cat in order to avoid issues? Also, will the ECU tune also fail my smog?

thanks

if you have a tune you can have a map profile specifically for smog testing. You would need to get with the tuner on that. This is the norm now since epa/environmentalist's have been cracking down.

Wouldn't rcommend using old cats because if they fail you can't get your money back if failing occurs within the warranty range.

If you are getting a tune you should just fork out the money and get some long tubes fabbed up!

Welll, my plan wasn't to use old Cats, it was to use my current OEM primary Cats versus using the high flow cats from Kleeman that don't even have oxygen sensor ports from what I was told.

As for the ECU tune, will the smog technician look for the file or is it some thing I should be able to switch to when I go to get a smog check?

Your current OEM ones on your vehicle are used regardless. All i was getting at is if you tamper with the kleeman stuff, warranty voided.

Not sure about smog. It varies state to state. I think VA is a/f ratio and a few other things. At my dealership everything is read through obd2 port. No tailpipe here. Again it varies state to state.

if you pull your engine and exhaust from your vehicle a good fab guy will make you custom LTH with O2 ports for around 2500k. The amount of power, o2 capabilites and sound for that price is somewhat reasonable. 1250 bucks for custom made longtubes, a side, is dirt cheap. Especially if you are in a smog state......

Sounds like a good idea. But I think I'm. Still worried about the visual inspection. I don't know any other way around this outside of installing/uninstalling OEM manifolds for smog tests. This is ridiculous

If you want to run headers either find a smog place that will look the other way and be ready to pay (I've heard going rate is around $500) or swap back to stock exhaust when you have to smog.

I've never bothered to find someone. That's just what I've heard from multiple people around where I live.
