Arrow Do we actually have a tire pressure monitor system??

So I am browsing through the car display and noticed that the tire pressure monitoring system tells you nothing at all.

Is this standard on 07-09' w211's?

I've taken a picture of the first screen and what it displays. I even checked in DAS to see if I could unlock anything else and I did unlock two more screens a while back via the date/time, and the fuel remaining... but why is the tire pressure monitoring system not helpful at all? Why does it now show what each tire is at? Is this something that can be added or what we have is what it is type of deal?

Thanks,
-Nigel

It doesn't specify which tire has low pressure.

If one is low you'll get a message then you have to check all four.

Just empty one tire to test it.

We ended up getting the cheap version. You'll get a white display warning about low tire pressure if it's a few pounds low, it will be red when it's down a lot and you almost have a flat. I've had a few flats so I know it works. It's better on the w212, it tells you what the tire pressure is in each tire. It also goes off when winter rolls around and the tire pressure drops due to the colder air.

arg that's annoying...lol I did see run flat indicator via DAS and I enabled it which changed the display reading on the cluster but no individual tire.

I changed it back to not present.

That's a shame. Seems like a wasted screen on the display to show info that isn't something that displays each tire. They could have simply made a screen that appeared if the pressure was low, rather than having to switch to and from a screen.

Then the final question... there is no way to enable/retro fit so that all 4 tires can be read for tire pressure, right? I'm sure I would have read a thread if there was, but just double checking..

Thanks,
-Nigel

its a bogus system to be honest. Mine comes on randomly at times when it gets real cold. All tires are always fine and it goes off after a few drive cycles. New sensors within the last year, so I just leave it be.

When mine comes on when it's cold, the pressure is really a few psi's low. I think the current system just detects a change in pressure, but doesn't actually have the actual pressure. It's functional the way it is, the reset is just reset the tire pressures once you've filled them up again. I think the reason it comes on and then goes off is that once you're driving, the tire pressure can go up by 4 psi on a hot vs cold tire. If you checked the tires you can just do a reset and it shouldn't come on again as I think the reset gives it a new reference point for what the pressures should be.

except it comes up red, as in down a lot of pressure. Its a garbage system.

The warning comes with delay. At least on "run flat" system on our 2008 model.
One time we catch a nail that made small leak. Next morning I drove almost 1/2 mile before warning lighted up. Fortunately the tire still had few psi, so I could get home without destroying it, but at highway speed the tire would be destroyed before warning comes.
To avoid cold morning alarms, reset the system in the morning, so it will remember the lower pressure.
Not as nice as newer system showing you psi numbers and temperatures, but still beats baseball bat for pressure check.
