High Mileage 2009 E350
Hello. Looking at a 2009 E350 and saw one that has 156,000km. I have a 2007 E350 4matic with 221,000km now. But it has had the balance shaft changed before so. Some seals are new. Is it worth getting a 2009? Should the engine be ok for the years to come

I have a 2008 with 144,000km and it runs and drives great - I'd say it drives better than some much newer cars. The balance shaft is no longer an issue, the engine design was fixed I believe late 2007. My August 2008 build is outside the affected range, so an 09 would be fine.
One of the big advantages to the 2009 cars over the 07/08 models is that they're equipped with the newer NTG 2.5 COMAND system. The NAV system is nicer than in the older cars and is hard drive based, and I believe you can also store music on the hard drive. There's also an SD slot on the front of the unit, and the voice recognition system is better than the previous generation. I do see the control stalk for the voice recognition in that car as well, I think it was still optional in 09.
The most important thing to consider is the history of the car. The mileage isn't as much of an issue if the car was looked after correctly. I'd take a car with slightly higher mileage that's been properly serviced over a car with lower mileage that's been neglected. Ideally you want a one-owner car, and I probably would pass on a car that's had more than two or three owners, you have to wonder why no one's kept it very long. Your current dealer should be able to run a VMI on it if you give them the VIN number, they probably won't give you the printout unless you're really close with a service writer, but they'll give you a rundown of the history including maintenance records and any warranty claims. In my case, the car had a complete service history and only one warranty claim, which was a cosmetic issue.

Are you happy with your 2007 you currently are driving? Looks like you took care of things and the car is in good shape.
If the answer is yes, why change because of 2 years and 65000 kilometers newer?

Ehhhh. I don't know. It's got bluetooth and looks a lot better. I saw the car on Kijiji (Craigslist like) classifieds. But now it was traded in. If this was the same one then the car has new brakes and rotors and shocks. And full Mercedes service records

What looks way better? I assume you mean the newer car? I for myself cannot tell a major difference between the cars in the photos.
If this is what you mean, then it appears to me as if you have made up your mind already anyhow, so you might as well purchase the newer car.

Just found out it has an accident. $2500 claim. But it was just the bumper, parktronic and I'm giess the chrome trim. As they had a photo of the damage previously. Ehh. The license plate holder is crooket. Is there anything I should look out for?

A $2500 claim is nothing these days for any car, especially if paint was involved. You'll just want to make sure that the bumper reinforcement/crash bar was replaced if damaged, and that the parktronic system is working correctly. I'm not sure how to check, but if you can, check and make sure that the bumper is an OEM MB bumper and not one of the cheap aftermarket ones. A lot of the aftermarket replacements are fibreglass and are much more susceptible to damage. I would rather see a used OEM bumper than a new aftermarket. The crooked plate holder is concerning though, speaks to the possible quality of workmanship. I would also pay close attention to the front suspension to make sure nothing's moved. A small claim like that had to have been a light hit, but if a tire was hit you never know...
My car had a nearly $4000 rear end claim, and that was only a bumper, parktronic, mufflers, and paint. The repairs were done at an MB approved body shop with OEM parts (I believe the bumper was used) and you would never be able to tell. Paint match is perfect.

I have 06 and was thinking to get 09 model, hell found an AMG for 12k with only 100k miles on it. Since my car is now at 138k miles, idk if i want to sell it for 3-4k and spend 9k on AMG within same model.
The only difference between your year model and that one is the wheels and a newer bumper. Other than that, its basically the same but with few miles on it. I've had no problems with mine at all and planning to keep it till it dies cuz I'm putting in new wheels on it in coming days.
I would literally love to upgrade to facelifted W211 but i rather save money now and buy a better and bigger sedan in future than to keep changing them in same model. just my opinion, if you really want it, then go for it. If you can sell yours for as close to the newer car is listed for, if not even close, it's not worth it to spend on it. 2012 E550s are on sale for around 15k...i would rather go for those. Complete newer model, bigger V8 engine, just a little less on mpg level.

Looked at the car in person. All the rubber pieces are chipped off. Like the one against the window. And I think the door was restarted as it has a really bad orange peel on one spot. I'll wait for a W212
