OM642 air filters - do I need Star?

Hi

I want to replace my air filters but I saw somewhere that you needed star to reset the ecu somehow. I see there is a maintenance reminder which you can do through the dash, is there anything else you need to do?

Thanks

Just change the filter and take note of the odometer so you knw when to change it again.

For the reset menu, it's the FSS menu.

Um.. some engine models HAS air filter adaptive value which can be reset via star, not sure if OM642 is one of them since never owned one...

Adaptive value will drift some direction during time, but without reset you may temporarily suffer worse MPG than before filter change.

I replaced filters and not having SD drove for couple of months before friend did the adaptation.
Did not notice any difference and I observe mpg very carefully.
The filters when I bought the car were clogged to degree that it added 2 seconds to 0-60 acceleration time, yet computer did not object.
