MB power trip....
I'm in D.C., ours was held in the parking lot of FedEx Field. It's held in various cities worldwide as far as I know. you get to test drive the entire line of autos, demonstrations, see MB movies, literature, prizes. but the best part was you ride in amg vehicles with a professional driver on this short course full of hairpin turns and straight aways at incredible speeds! for me, that was the highlight of the event.

I went to the DC event twice just for the AMG Hot Lap. It was awesome! For those who did not experience it and think they can "really" drive or have a buddy who thinks he is a hot shoe. Yeah Right! I have never seen driving skill until I rode the AMG hot lap in a S55 & E55. Talk about handling a car - I can only wish I could drive like that. They had a entire trailer full of Continental performance tires with a crew to change them. The driving was so hard & fierce the tires did not last. Great Event.

E55 KEV, how did you find out about the event when it came to DC? Do you know of a web address? I want to watch for one that may come to my area, however, I have no idea where to look for this type of event... Do they advertise it on TV, radio, local newspapers, specialty car mags, etc?

hey E55 KEV...
that AMG hot lap was off the hook wasn't it? i know i put an imprint in that door handle because i was squeezing it so hard! i contacted MBUSA and they did not have any info on this years power trip as of yet. as far as the national gran prix, unfortunately i am out of town that week and will miss this one, so it looks like you are going to have to hold down the fort!

MBUSA sent me an email I believe. You need to register at www.mbusa.com and they send you information from time to time. The web address was www.mbpowertrip.com, however it still list the 2001 information.

Sungulent, thanks for the pics! I read that MB often invites BMW and Audi to bring their cars to these power drives. Did BMW or Audi show up on this particular day? If they did show up, how was the driving comparison? It would be interesting to drive all three brands one right after the other...

Has anybody heard anything about an event this year? The website is still from last year, and I know that the registration started in March last year, so I am getting worried that they will not be holding one this year. I attended the event last June in Boston and it was so fun, I was ready to go again like two hours later. Please let me know if any of you hear anything from MB. Thanks!
