lic plate lights

how hard or how much work goes into changing the plate lights? I saw a link to do it but lost it. I'm going to put some LEDs up there. They are canbus error free so shouldn't give any trouble, i hope.

These are the ones i found:

Pretty simple to change. Just unscrew from the outside, pull out the stock halogen bulb and plug in the replacement. 36mm will plug straight into the prong clip itself, and not the lens cover.

We have high end CREE XBD canbus version available if interested. Has constant current IC chip with heat sink.

My vote is for the LED modules. I think I paid $15-20 or something close to that on eBay. Was shipped from the US so I got them in two days. With canbus leds they get hot. I've tried them and they eventually fail because of the solder joints/vibration.

By far superior lighting output compared to plug in leds. Very minimal work considering how nice they look. IE: Take you 25 minutes to install vs 5 minutes for plug in leds.

If so and they are the same if it were me, I would get the LED modules. I replaced mine on our sedan and it's awesome.

I'll snap a picture tonight of what they look like. 1st picture are them installed on our w211 trunk lid. 2nd picture is what they looked like on our CLK when we had it.

I would the original ones. they will go forever. Led look good, but they tend to fail in a year. Especially if its made from China. With all due respect.

post me a link for those modules?

And how many pieces go up there, 2 or 4? Few links i see 4 pieces of lights and some links state just 2 pieces? And both says to fit perfectly.

I'm planning to get the black n yellow plate as well. Still considering what to get

Exact ones I bought from the same seller. It's only two modules. They completely replace the original license plate light housing. 100% plug and play. You remove the old housing. Snap these in, plug in the connector and then turn your lights on to verify, then put the plastic trunk piece back on. I had them on our CLK for over 2 years and it had zero issues. The current owner is still driving the car with the same LED modules in it with no issues. So we are talking almost 3 years.

I forgot to snap photos last night. I will when I get home. It will be in my garage so I won't be able to get too far from it but it will give you an idea. Looks so much better than the crappy yellow festoon bulbs. Gives the rear end such a clean look. On top of that the majority of time if you look at your rear license plate lenses they are probably yellowish from the heat of the halogen festoon bulb. I was almost going to buy new covers but I think they were $12-15 each and then I would still have to buy LED bulbs... the modules were a no brainer to me. There are more leds on them than plug in leds, and they don't get nearly as hot as the plug in leds since they are larger/bigger pcb board.

Here you go.

One picture is with my garage door light on. If I turned on my actual lights you'd never see them since it's over 55+k lumens of light.

Other two are of the garage light off.

Very bright, pure white light.

Yep completely visible. My phones camera makes it seems like it's really looking at the sun but it's not. Just nice bright pure white clean looking back end.
