M-B Tex failures

First of all, let me say that our '09 E350 4Matic Sport is a great car...now w/99K trouble free miles, but...

I'm about to have the M-B Tex replaced on the driver's seat/lower bolster for the second time. The M-B Tex has split again.

I thought the M-B Tex was suppose to be a "forever" product, much longer lived than real leather.

Has Benz cheapened this material in recent years?

But as I stated initially, with the exception of the M-B Tex splitting, the car has been a joy.

MB in the era of high competition did used cheaper supplies, so it is possibility.
The 30 years old MB-Tex on father's 300DT hold quite good.
I replaced driver back skin, where evidently PO was rubbing his back while entering the car, but the bottom and all passenger seats are all original.
Now the wood cover on center console is a mess.

how much does those usually run to replace them? I have never had any issues with mine only worry I have that I live in the hot climate, that would make my MB Tex feel very thin and like it's gonna tear.

I was checking skin options at stealers for my W210 in the past.
They did offer me set of front skins. ... for only $2600.
That was few years back, so calculate price adjustment.
But W211 are hitting California junk yards in pretty good numbers lately (all I have seen had front-end damage) and I already have spare driver seat skin for my 2008 model.
The old one still holds, but at 180k miles, it does have nasty fold.

FYI-when I planned the first replacement of the torn M-B Tex, I ordered a square yard of M-B Tex from World Upholstery in CA (800-222-9577), and their product was identical to the OEM stuff. The material cost plus the installation by a local auto/boat upholstery shop was about $250 all in. And I have enough leftover material for the second replacement.
