Australian 2008 E280 CDI with the om642 engine. I got a look under last night looking for the dreaded Diesel Particulate filter ... and I can't find it.
Looking from bellhousing backward. The diagrams I have seen show a DPF right where I am looking with 1 inlet and two outlets.
Could I have a car that was never fitted with a DPF?
I think it should be farther back, where the picture gets dark, but frankly unless you have a problem, why you worry?
The environmental stuff is forced on cars by USA and eventually other countries will follow, so since DPF come to USA in 2007, I would not be surprised if AU models don't have it in 2008
