LED Tail Light facelift Error
Hello,
Trying to swap out the tail lights from a 2008 E350, which are LEDs but after I hooked them up, I get an error code that my brake lights are out.
Also, the brake lights don't turn on.
I heard this was a plug and play...however, it does not appear as so...can anyone advise?
Thanks!

it would not work as you thought would be plug and play, unfortunately with MB cars they are fickle with the electrical and they have to be coded to make it work, if you're going from a regular bulb taillight to LED. My 09 E350 has a sport package and I noticed the brake light are LED only and the non sport are halogen bulb, so they are not swappable til it's coded through DAS star scan.

These are the ones I purchased from eBay seller fishcake. Highly recommended vendor who stands behind his products.

I don't have personal knowledge whether coding will make them work but if that's what it takes, I highly recommend you go that route.
If that's not a viable option for you, you can probably get away with adding an inline resistor or canbus adapter on the wiring of each taillight. It's a very cheap procedure and any shop that installs aftermarket HID kits should be able to do it for you.

I'm thinking of doing the same upgrade and I believe it will make the car look cleaner than the foggy headlight that make the car look ugly....
Has anyone tried these headlights and are they good ? these are from the seller recommended by @Bahnstormer

I will look over the weekend for you when I am working on mine. I will go through DAS/STAR/Xentry and see if the rear taillights are actually coded for LEDS.
(I have a 2009 sport). It wouldn't surprise me if they needed to be coded. Seems like everything on this car needs coded. Did it for bi-xenons including OEM led front city lights(this needed to be done in developer menus), power folding mirrors, tilt passenger mirror, backup camera, flashing emergency brakes...etc.

I changed tails and no need to code, my car had factory leds, but the guy I purchased removed them to normal tails, then I bought led tails and installed them and everything is working fine with no code needed.
