Test drove E55 today

Test drove E55 today
Have always wondered if I should have ponied up and gotten an E55 when I got my car. Well, the bug has started to bite again and as I posted on the E55 forum the other day, it is time for the long process of wearing down my wife to go for it. 
You know, leave pictures around, bring it up in conversation, etc. If she gives me a hard time, I can always remind her how much money some of her jewelery cost. Or maybe not.
Anyway, I passed by my dealer to get some preliminary numbers / trade in info. and he happened to have one on the lot. We went out back to check it out, and he asked as long as I was there, would I like to take it for a spin. Dumb question and bad news for me. The car was tectite/charcoal (of course), DVD, parktronic, distronic, CD changer, burl walnut (he said most of the E55's are NOT going out w/ black birdseye maple), and multi-contour seats. Quite simply the car is SILLY FAST! and I did not go nuts with it. Just a blast to drive.
Now how do I bring this up to my wife, and what BS scam do I come up with. I could always just get it and de-badge it. She probably wouldn't tell the difference. Until she drove it.

I posted on the E55 AMG forum the other day asking if I should expect to pay MSRP. It seems that there are dealers around the country that will discount a bit on this car. Some here have stated that most dealers on Long Island operate in a bit of a closed loop. I've bought 5 cars from these guys, so I might be able to get a little off. The sales guy today told me that they have approx. $5,500 in the car, so there is some wiggle room. He said the typically never discount the AMG vehicles. They treat me well there. When the new E came out, I was having some trouble with my E430 and the GM of the dealership took my car back with a pretty good trade (it was 2 years old at the time) and sold me the E500 for her cost. Pretty good for a new model launch. I thought it showd some goodwill on her part. My sales guy was pretty surprised. I guess I need to find out how much less I can buy it elsewhere (got to work on my wife first, though!). If it's marginal, i'm not going to go all over the country to save a few bucks. The dealership is 5 minutes from my house. Oh, and for my car they offered $47,000. It has 11,000 miles on it. I haven't researched what they are going for, but he said I'd have to get a little over $50,000 privately to make it work.

cte430 - I made the same mistake and took out an E55 - a used 2004 with 4K miles - and had a blast. Makes my E500 feel like I'm pulling a trailer!
I have the same issue you do. Bring it up with wife and the sparks fly. Haven't figured that one out myself so you're on your own my friend.
They quoted me Kelly Blue Book for trade in value for my car. I laughed and told them they would have to do way better than that considering MBUSA has a ton of pre-owned listed for about $55-56K with less options than I have. I told them when they are at about $51K for trade I'll talk.

It looks like you have more options on your car than I do. The only thing you don't have is NAV/phone. With that being said do you think 47K is fair for mine? Of course, I could try to sell it on my own and get a little more, but that could be a hassle.
I was just on MBUSA's site and built the E55. I was only considering buying the car with a hefty cash down payment plus my car. For the hell of it I did the lease with 47K as a trade in and for 39 months w/ no money down it come to $130 month??!! I mus be doing something wrong. If that's the case i'll get two!
