E500 Price Question
Regarding price - are you in california?
Regarding the decontenting of the E. I think that 2004 Es produced recently (past month) already have these features removed. Although they still have the SBC brakes.

Hi all. I'm a new member here looking for a new 2004 E500 with premium pkg, appearence pkg, wood wheel, and sat radio. My local dealer quoted me $60K even (MSRP $64600) plus $250 (tags and internet fee) plus state tax, so that's $4600 discount. Is this a good deal? He also said the 2005's will be delivered in late June/July and I could order one of those and get my same discount (but the premium pkg is $1K more). Should I get this 2004 now (it will be here Monday) or order a 2005 for delivery in June/July? Thanks for you help.

Edmunds had the invoice for this car around $58,800. Watch the fees (what is an "internet" fee). Some dealers give great prices and "get you" on the financing to make up for the "loss" on the car price. If you aren't financing or leasing then that is a "non-issue". Go for the 04 "free" maintenance can save some $$$.
I'd like to hear what happened.
Herb did mark up the financing to compensate somewhat for the discount. I know this because I asked what the money factor was and then went home and used an online lease calculator to see where they were.
I low balled Euro and they took the deal. Same car, no trucking charges and a lower lease payment (about $40 per month).
Dont get me wrong, Herb is a decent dealer, they never called back to see if I had made a decision, that puzzled me.
Also, I was told that at least some Mercedes in Southern California have a $600 advertising fee tacked on by MBUSA. Some dealers will also change you $100 for *paperwork*.
I've learned that when you price a car you need to ask exactly how big a check you're going to have to write. It's almost always more than you expected.
Anyway, congratulations on a great car.
BTW, having owned a GS-300, would you have an opinion on the GS-430?
The GS is a wonderful car with plenty of power for most instances, we thoroughly enjoyed owning it. Maybe the new GS will resolve those the issues with handling and be more firm (sport package).
