E500 exhaust delete?

So I can barely hear my glorious 5 liter v8, and I'm looking for cheap ways to make it louder.

the first thought that comes to mind is a muffler delete, which I had on my old sc400 and wasn't tooo loud.

when I went underneath to check my exhaust set up I was surprised to find 1 mid mufflers connected to 2 mufflers in back, meaning I'd have to delete all 3 at once even if I wanted to remove just one. So I was wondering if doing so would be alright for the car? And wouldn't trigger a check engine light, or destroy my engine in the long run.

Also, I was wondering if this was not feasible if there was another very cheap routes I could go to liven up the exhaust quite a bit.

Thanks is so much to anyone who helps!

dont do it.

not sure if you really want to do that. It wont sound cool, it will sound like the car is broken and has a problem. If you really want a tasteful aggressive sound replace your tailpipe mufflers with C63 mufflers, those are very free flowing and noisy. Otherwise go buy a Mustang if you want aggressive exhaust. E500 is an elegant motorcar not a hotrod..

My 2 cents.

OP clearly is an enthusiast in love with luxury, refinement and panache of the w211, but also loves the firey V8 under the hood, so this is obviously the type of car he enjoys and has no interest in a Mustang.

Start with a resonator delete (what you call the mid muffler) and go from there. Any exhaust shop can just straight pipe it for you. Since all of this stuff is downstream of the O2 sensors you won't throw codes.

Good to know I made my E63 sound like it's broken by removing the resonator.

OP has a V8. It will sound good with a resonator delete done.

see I would absolutely love to do something like that, but it seems as if the resonator is connected to the rear mufflers. So is there a way to take it off and leave the rear mufflers on?

The resonator should be separate from the mufflers. It's between the mufflers and cats. It's on the right in this pic.

Why not install exhaust mufflers from an E55 with the nice AMG quad oval tips. That's my plan - already purchased units in good shape from a local eBay ad for $400. Just need to summon the courage to cut my bumper with the Dremel tool I bought and then get them welded on at the muffler shop.

Yes but as you can see the pipes from the mufflers lead directly into the resonator, so once it's out, what is there for them to connect to?
