Head unit swap

So I've searched this forum for head unit options and it's hard to decipher what people actually like since the technology changes so much and some of these posts are from 2012 or 2014 or whatever. I just bought a 2007 e350 and it is all stock with navigation. It has a bluetooth adapter in the center console that I can't seem to get to connect which I believe is only for phone calls and no music streaming.

So here's the question I have. What are people using in 2017 that either connects to the existing head unit for bluetooth phone/music streaming or what headunit are they swapping out with? What seems to be the best solution?

Pros/Cons for different ones.

Thanks in advance.

If you're just looking to do music streaming off your phone keep the stock head unit. From Mercedes it's set up for the Iphone/Ipod which is why the AUX setting doesn't work when your phone is plugged into it. You'll need to pull the stereo out and swap the connectors on the back of it. Then the AUX will work with your phone. Do a YT search, it's easy to do and doesn't take long.

I was going to go with an Android HU in my car, but after swapping the cables it's not worth the expense. I have zero issues with running Spotify off my phone while in the car now using the AUX input.

You could also buy a Bluetooth ipod aux receiver and plug that into the ipod interface in the glove compartment. Then stream music to it via Bluetooth. That's what I did. Bought the device on amazon for $60 or so. Works perfectly. I posted a review of it on the forum. Do a search for it and it should help if you choose to go that route.

Where exactly do I find this? Maybe I missed it. Where is an Aux cable and what connectors am I swapping?

That's not hard for a handy man.
i modified my audio system by removing all the original parts include AGW, HU and 6CD, bought a dash kit and installed a KENWOOD, the only trick is wiring, cut 4 speakers wire from AGW and drag to front, along with a battery power cable, two rear cam cables. Easy but a lot of time.

I lost the steering wheel button control for radio, but other functions are not affected, clock has no problem.
