Guys, I need your help RE: vibrating crank pulley on my 04 W211...
Sunday, 04/25, I went to a San Diego MB meet. I was showing my car to someone at the meet and I cranked the engine with the hood open.
Someone else noticed that my crankshaft pulley was vibrating and the belt tensioner was also vibrating. That did not look right.
I took it in to service on 04/27 to have it checked out. I have heard of the harmonic balancer failures on the M112 engines for the "older" model cars. My service advisor just called me a few mins ago and was told by the master-tech that it was "within spec" and that it didn't need replacement.
I'm not sure if I should believe them. My question is... Should I push for MB to replace the crank pulley, harmonic balancer, and everything else related with safety being my greatest concern?
Ignorance is bliss........Now knowing that our E320 has a vibrating crank pulley makes me uneasy driving it at high RPMs.
Opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
