2003 E320
First time posting 2003 E320 issues!
Howdy ya'll from San Antonio, Texas.
I bought my first Mercedes earlier this year and its been a learning experience...lol
Plenty of issues to talk about. Previous owners mechanic SUCKED!!
Shortly after buying the car I got the red screen of death ABS, BAS, EXP failure that luckily happened parked in my driveway. After reading a bunch of posts on here and watching a ton of youtube vids, its was pretty obvious it was the ABS control board. Service center quoted me 1800.00 for module and programming and after my research I found a used one on amazon from a 2003 S500 for 65.00 and figured why not. GUESS what? It worked!!! Go figure! WIN!
Next issue was the typical squeaky ball joints on front control arms, yep had to pay my stupid tax of 1600.00 to service center, I looked at it as breaking even after saving that on ABS control board...lol
So 15k miles, no issues and then air compressor and low beam passenger side go out, service center does compressor 600.00 and tells me 600 for ballast replacement. Paid the stupid tax on compressor only. Researched the light, ordered the ballast 50.00 on amazon. 15 minutes and had it replaced, easy enough to get to from underneath after taking shroud off. I was surprised at how easy it was and embarrassed how easy the compressor would have been,
So moral of the story, win some loose some but 160k miles and its by far the best car I have ever owned.
