Interesting info on W211 AMG
Found the following article on revvinghigh.com.
GLAD THEY DIDN'T TRY TO SLOW DOWN THE E55K!!!!!!!!!
IF THEY CAN FIND EXTRA POWER FOR THE SL55, I THINK SOMEONE WILL FIND IT FOR THE E55K AS WELL.

t's red faces all round at Mercedes – engineers are going back to the drawing board after they realised the SL55 AMG wasn't as fast as the new hot E-Class. Not yet launched in Britain, the 476bhp supercharged convertible went on sale in Germany in February. Around 100 had been delivered when production was halted for six weeks to uprate engines to 500bhp.
This move ensured the SL55, the flagship of the AMG range, wasn't overshadowed by the next performance E-Class. The E will use the same engine, but as it's lighter and more aerodynamic than the SL, it had proved quicker in testing.

It would be funny as Hell if that extra engineering "research" was nothing more than changing the pulley ratios and a little exhaust tweeking....A little trip to your friendly MBZ parts counter and Voila!! A 500HP E55!!

I actually switched my 209 AMG order to a 211 AMG a couple months ago.
"The E will use the same engine"
I'm looking forward to a 55K as opposed to a 50K.. As the saying goes.. There's no replacement for displacement..
