E class (S211( wagon)

I am considering the estate due to the limitation of the 5 seats for the family.

I have the s211 with 2 extra rear facing child seats in mind or the new ML with the family pack.

I would be interested to know how the wagon drives in cf to the saloon and how the rear facing child seats fare.

I have also looked at the Toyota Landcruiser LC4 and the Volvo XC90, all over MPV type 7 seats. I liked the drive on the Xc90 but it had only 163bhp and lacked performance with 0-60 12 secss.

The X5 is out of the question with BMW not going near 7 seaters.
The lexus Rx is still 5 seater, whether the new one out in next year will be any diff not sure.

That leaves the ML..the new ML next year...which is already available as a 7 seater option. The present ML does not have good reviews.

I drive a E220CDI(W211) Avantgarde- Tansanite Blue,Auto Cream/Sand leather, PTS, Xenons.

VW Sharan is not a bad family car, especially when you have lots of kids

E-class E300e Estate, Sprinter (stretched limo)
I have had a new ML350 courtesy car all day and in my opinion it is NOT suitable for a large family.

If anyone sits in the very rear of the vehicle there is absolutely no where to put any luggage, shopping etc.

Regards,
John

Almost 15 years after its release and stylists are still stealing the lines of the Toyota Previa. Amazing!

Thanks guys for ur comments.

The Sharan, although a decent quality vehicle, has van-like look and even the Touran is not asthetically appealing to me.

I would consider the XC90 but as the test drive showed it was no high flier even with the diesel. Practically it was just right...however it lacked the looks in some areas.( even with 7 seats up there is enough room for adequate shopping.

The Landcriuser however looks the part.... seats seven with smaller space for shopping....but then you wouldn't take the whole gang when u went to Asda-Walmart.

I'm test driving the Toyota tommorrow and will see how it drives.

The compromise is a S211 WITH REAR child seats to seat 5 adults and two children which seems Ok since i only will keep it 2 or 3 years max. The looks of the E Class are there, the performance is acceptable in the e270 or e320cdi and fuel economy is good. I'm assuming since its the same chassis the drive will be the same as saloon, although cornering will be obviuosly less so.

The other alternative is the NEW Toyota corolla VERSO with 7 seats( adults can use the 2 rear seats as well) .

If the new ML has a longer wheelbase for the 7 seater which is rumored to happen then i may just wait a little....any nore info on the new ML anywhere.
