FSS giving wacky results

I know I'm about due for my first service at around 10K miles, but the FSS has been giving me a lot of wacky miles. One time I'll start the car and it will remind me that I have 1500-1700 miles to go before my service B, Other times, it will say I only have about 900 left. And it seems to randomly decide whether to display it as km or miles. Just a little strange.

remember that it changes with the way you drive. if you drive like a grandma itll display a further distance than opposed to if you drive like a maniac.

while its true that it adjusts the mileage according to your driving habits, I've never seen it jump that much in mileage difference...from what I'm reading, about a 600-700 mile difference.

I sometimes hammer the S and it will minus another 100 miles, but it never goes back up. Once it's down, it stays down. Thats the most fluxuation i've seen is 100 mile difference after driving...

Could be something wrong with the computer? If your in the area of your dealer, just ask them to check it out. Or you could call them and tell them that the FSS says 900 miles till oil change, could you schedule me in...most dealers will do it within the 1000 mile mark.

Well, it seemed to be overly sensitive. After a more sedate highway trip, it will jump up with mileage remaining. But then, I may turn off the car, and then make a small around town trip, and miles will jump down in to the 900's. I'll have the dealer take a look at that too. Maybe it just needs a firmware upgrade or something.

I've been waiting paitently for the 43/03 update on COMAND and the SBC damping issue as well, so it will be a worthwhile service.

My FSS is now showing just under 800miles to go for Service B and I have not yet seen a "reminder" as some of you had mentioned? Do I need to keep pulling up the FSS on the display to check it.. or will it tell me so I can schedule an appointment?

Thanks

once it hits 1000 miles remaining, it will flash/show up in the display for about 5-10 seconds reminding you that it is almost time for service. Within that 1000 miles, you can schedule an appointment, Doesn't have to reach 0 miles, anywhere inbetween 0-1000 is fine.

has anybody got to about 5K miles of driving and still had their FSS indicator showing 10K miles exactly? Mine has not moved since day one.

Mine has been *cked since I got the car- been stuck at 9645 miles, and I have 9500 miles on it. I thought I was reading it wrong, and it meant that that was the mileage you were supposed to take it in, not remaining miles. Its in the shop now to get fixed.
