Easy Entry Feature (Steeering Column)

I just wanted to find out if it is okay that when you step out of the car and the easy entry feature is on, the steering column goes up but it makes a noise that is kinda loud. Is that normal?

Mine sorta groans like the material between the wheel and dash is compresing. I thought it was normal sound.

The issue I am having ( not to hijack your thread by the way) is that intermitantly the seat moves FORWARD when I get out of the car. Now the Easy entry feature is turned off totally and this still happens. When I return to the car, I have to push my preferred preset ( say #2) and the seat returns to normal. It does not return to normal when I open the door.

In other words when I exit and lock the car( or not lock) the seat automatically moves to the forward most position which means I cannot get in the car.

Dealer cannot replicate condition after 2 visits.

Saturday it did it again as it was pouring rain and I had to stand in the rain holding the memory button till I could get in.

Any advice?

Buy an umbrella .... Sorry bro could'nt resist.
To answer the original question... Mine makes a groaning noise also. It sounds like it should though, an electric motor working. Its not real loud, but could easily be heard....

I sprayed it with some silicone stuff. Reduced the noise by 50%. The same goes for the folding mirrors.

The motor they use to lift the wheel is a low speed, hi torque electrical motor, that whines somewhat.

Marksatex,

mine does the same thing, but very occasionally, can't figure out what condition makes this happen. Happened today when I got in the car after lunch, I realized the seat had come all the way forward. And then the #1 button does not start adjusting the seat until after you put the car in the "on" poisition (hit the keyless go button and wait for 5 seconds). If you find a solution, I would love to know...
