Exclamation P2015 Code on 2008 E350 4Matic

Good evening all,

There are 2 parts to this story:

1) I have a 2008 E350 4Matic with 164,000 miles. I used that vehicle to jump start another vehicle BUT I connected the jump cables to the battery in the trunk, not the posts under the hood. It drove fine after that until the next day coming home from work (it was in C mode). The pwr. steering became stiff, the battery light came on, then the low coolant light, and finally the car shut down. I opened the hood and found the serpentine belt shredded. I had the vehicle towed home and I replaced both idler pulleys, the automatic belt tensioner, and the serpenting belt. Started the vehicle and the check engine light came on.
2) I used an OBD 2 scanner and it gave me 4 codes:
a) P0300 - Random - Multiple misfire detected.
b) P2015 - Intake Manifold Runner Sen Sw Ckt Rng / Perf B1. When I looked up the code on actron's site it said -Component Y3/8n4 (Fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit) is defective. Read and observe repair information.
c) P0306 - Cylinder 6 misfire detected. When I looked up the code on actron's site it said - The injection valve output stage of cylinder 5 detects a short circuit to ground. (P0273)
d) P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected. When I looked up the code on actron's site it said - The injection valve output stage of cylinder 1 detects a short circuit to ground. (P0261)

Actron's site said "Confirmed fixes available" for P0300, P0306, P0302.

My questions are, a) Should I purchase the "confirmed fixes" for the misfires? and b) Other than replacing the transmission control unit (which I understand is very expensive) is there anything else I can do?
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make sure I included all relevant info. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Ron

The misfires could be caused by a lot of things and could be "one-off" events. Not sure about the others. Have you tried clearing the codes and seeing if they come back?

These cars have a very sensitive electrical system, and it doesn't take much to set them off.

Thanks for responding! Yes, I tried that and no luck. Is there anything else you know of that would cause the VGS error message?

Are you getting all of them back? Some scanners can't clear transmission codes. It may be a good idea to get a scan with a Mercedes scanner. Your dealer will have it. Some indies do as well.

Jump starts can fry some electronics-that is a frequent topic here.

You took it to the MB dealer and they scanned it? Didn't they have any ideas about it? The P2015 indicates a problem with the intake manifold. That's a very common failure item especially with the mileage you have on this car. Also did you have the battery fully charged? Just driving it around may not have fully charged it. I'd put it on a charger, those misfires could be due to the weak battery. Misfires are typically either the coil or the plugs if the battery is fully charged. Could also be bad injectors. Hard to say if the bad intake is also related and your misfires could go away once you replace the intake. The engine basically runs rough depending on how the intake failed, it's tuned to provide either more or less air depending on high or low rpms and you only end up with one when the intake fails and I suppose maybe too lean a condition could cause a misfire.

Anyway, common failure on the intake is that the lever in front brakes or one of the rods breaks. You might actually be able to see it if you take the front cover off and poke around. New one is around $465 and rebuilt is about $350.
