Parktronic

My wifes 2002 E320 wagon is comming off of lease. The one item that she wanted on is was parktronic but is was not available.

I am in the process of ordering an 05 E320 wagon for her. It is being special ordered (She wants just about every option that MB makes). Again parktronic, is not available for the wagon (it is for the sedan). Does anybody have any idea why not? I would think this would be a no brainer to install.

I also posted this on the electronics forum.

Parkatronic is accurate front and rear but if not available u can get any decent 3rd party install for a few hundred dollars which will give you 15cm clearance.

I have the third eye system

The third party systems work ok but they look like they are added on and not fully integrated into the electronics. I am also not very comfortable having a third party make modifications to a new E class that I am paying $65+ for.

Have you checked with your dealer, or have you used the Configurator on MBUSA? There should be no obvious reason for not having the Parktronic on the wagon. I have, and glojo too. MB is not always up-to-date. I would demand that your dealer actually recheck this.

I've test driven a European(UK) wagon with parkatronic so can't see why this option would not be available for US customers.

Mb also have retrofit parkatronic (same one fitted on Mb models) but the cost is more than the 600 sterling at factory option...ie includes labour charges etc..costs twice as much.

Third party use the wires in the rear lights so are not added on but integrated into the cars wiring. They do the job effectively and are painted with the mb paint code and resemble the original OEM parkatronic.
