Electric trunk opener issues
Our beloved '09 E350 has a problem with the "electronic trunk closer" system. Any forum advice will be appreciated.
Here's the problem: when opening the trunk by either using the interior switch (driver's door), key fob, or exterior trunk latch, the trunk only opens about 1/3 of the way, and then stops thereby requiring you to manually open it the rest of the way. Once partially or fully raised, it will not electronically close...you must manually close it.
???...is this some kind of "synchronization" problem?

Did you read the thread about the wiring in the trunk? Sounds like you don't have power to the trunk closer anymore.

Perform an advanced search in the W211 and W211 AMG sections using the user name "Konigstiger" and key word "trunk". He posted a reply with several attachments on this within the last two months.

The problem was damage to the wiring loom...near the hinge. The damage was apparently caused by the opening/closing activity (flexing) over time. The Tech spliced out the damaged area and spliced in a new section...problem solved. (I am surprised M-B didn't shield the wiring loom at that location.)

This is the exact issue and fix, I had with me 07 E63 last year. As these cars age, the wiring get brittle after years of flexing and bending.

Hi! Thanks for sharing this. Would you mind telling us the process of how you did it ? I would love it on my W219.
