Is somone here an MB tech who can look up how the parts are different?
Maybe it is only an assemblely that the lock cylinder fits in and can be retrofited. Since '04s came both ways, maybe the panels and most trim pieces are the same. As long as the lock cylinder stays the same we may be good to go. Even an extra key could be kept in the glove box until needed.

Just an update on this.
Not only can you not valet lock the trunk on new W211, if your earlier W211 needs to have the lock replaced, the ONLY replacement lock is the new one. Your repaired car will no longer have a trunk valet lock!!!
Got this from a service foreman who had the problem. He called MB. Thought they had sent the wrong part. Was informed that the unit without the valet lock is the only unit available.

I've seen a few '04s that allow it. However no '05s do. And replacement mechanisms for all W211s are missing the trunk valet lock.
