A 20 year old isnt a kid....HE DRIVES. He was just surprised because it is an undocumented feature of the car. It IS a childproof lock, you just don't have to fiddle with a mechanical switch in the door jamb to activate it. Its allways there by default. The kid that won't pull up the door lock plunger is a child in a car seat!

So, to make the W211 into a cop car, all we actually need to do is to unscrew the pin.

Yup. Either one works to protect the child since that was the intent of the feature. It doesn't matter how you do it.
