Tires on E500 Appearance Pkg?

I'm due to get an '05 E500 with appearance package in July. What kind of tires should I expect? I've seen conflicting reports -- all weather or performance -- (any with performance all-weather?) and brands seem to be either Continental or Michelin. I wold appreciate it if someone who's got the package could post what their tires are. If it makes a difference, I'm in New York. Thanks.

I got Michelin Pilot Primacy 245/45 WR17. These are summer "touring" tires. I'm in CA.

In NJ, I got Continental ContiSport 2 Summer tires. I've heard that in cold climates they give you an all-season touring tire, and not a performance tire. Either way, I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's because I needed the all season.

Apparently, MB no longer approves or certifies the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's. Here's the message from the moderator of the tire forum on this board:

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!

On January 16, 2004 Mercedes Benz issues a Star Bulletin to all their dealers as follows:
________________________________________
SUBJECT: All Passenger Models
Michelin Pilot Sports A/S Tires

Please be advised that the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (all season) is not an approved (nor certified) Mercedes-Benz tire for any Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle. Use of the above mentioned tire can cause vehicle tracking issues which MBUSA will not attempt to correct. MBUSA will not perform warranty wheel alignments on any subject vehicle which has any non-approved wheel/tire packages installed. For any questions as to approved wheel/tire packages please refer to WIS and EPC.

No to the pilot sport A/S

I had them and had to get rid of them. Wanted to have an A/S tire for the winter (more so for the cold, as I didnt' take the car out in the snow) when I put the SO-3's away. They pulled something awful. I had a staggered setup (245 fronts and 275 rear) and the only other tire I could find was the Yokohamo dB's which were very nice. REAL quiet and pretty good performance. From a strictly perf. perspective I would say the pilot sport A/S was a better tire.

Yeah, as soon as I put the Pilot A/S's on, it made the right drifting worse. And besides, I thought that it was going to be some great tire, but have been mildly unimpressed. I should have bought the Dunlop SP5000's, a tire I had experience with. They tend to wear fast, but were good performers all year round.

Try the dB's. Do you have a staggered setup?

Here in Canada I rec'd the Conti 2 summer tires.. Funny.. If there is anywhere that needs winter tires it is here (even though where I am - Toronto) is more southern then tons of States - a lot of Americans don't realize this... Anyways..

I find that the Conti's are amazing tires in a straight line, whenever I go around corners fast it seems they are about to slip out.. Anyone know of a better tire that has a lot of traction during fast cornering on the highway..?

04' E500 w/Appear. PKG, Panorama Roof
I have the Conti Sport Contacts and had them on the 03 as well. Little loud on concrete but great grip and smooth ride. I have Michelins on my trucks and get awesome wear but those are truck tires....
