I've read everywhere that the speakers are 2 ohm (except the center which is 1.5 ohm), and the center and subwoofer are dual voice coil. I'm going to be adding a new headunit and aftermarket amp. Looking at the OEM amp, it looks like there is a single speaker wire going to the center channel and the subwoofer.
With only one wire going to the subwoofer, is the observed impedance to the amp 2 ohm, or are both voice coils 2 ohm and the impedance at the amp on this single wire 1 or 4 ohms depending on whether the voice coils are wired in series or parallel?
The center channel is dual voice coil, but my understanding is that the amp only drives one voice coil, the other coil is is driven from the car alert system (or something like that), so the amp would see 1.5 ohm? Can anyone confirm this?
