Paddle shifters: need a little help

Hi all. This is my first post in a while, but won’t be my last. I used to post a few years back fairly regularly in the CLS forum.

I have a 2008 E350 and decided to replace the steering wheel due to wear on the old one. I bought an AMG wheel with paddles but other than that, no other parts. I transferred most everything from my old wheel(air bag, controller, horn switches circuit board with springs and the steel mounting plate.) I replaced the buttons for menu selections and volume and phone due to some damage. After putting everything back together, everything works with the exception of the paddles which do nothing at all.

Ive read the numerous threads in the forums on paddle shifters but couldn’t find what I need.

Im not interested in going full manual mode with this car. I just want to be able to use the paddles in the same manner as my gear shift which I can up shift or down shift with.

Was really hoping it was going to be plug and play. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do anything wrong with installation.

Does anyone know a place place in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area where I can get this activated??? Looks fantastic. Now I just want it to work.

Thanks

You installed a AMG electrical component on a non AMG vehicle. May just need to be scn coded....

I think they’re just switches

from AMG or other level of trim I believe is not the issue.

The problem I have is I can’t even find someone that will do the scn coding in Wisconsin. The Mercedes dealer is telling me it can’t be done without changing all sorts of components which has already been proven to be completely false.

I just need need someone to turn them on that knows how. There are threads here that have already proven it’s a fairly easy job to do once the wheel is installed. My controller had the plugs for the paddles too.

So far no one I’ve contacted has a clue how to do it.

i told the dealer it’s already been done by numerous guys and he just said that his head of service and best tech both say it can’t be done.

I'm looking at wiring schematics and it does depend on year for sure and also if it's an AMG or not. The dealer isnt going to do such things because there are liabilities in doing so. Your steering column module needs to know exactly what what options your steering wheel has. Is it for a 55? Does it have s/wheel heater? Up to this date as of this date.... and so on. Good luck

I brought an old thread to life on the subject where in guys with my same car and set up did it with no issues other than basically turning it on with an scn code.

2008 E350 4matics upgraded with AMG WHEELS AND PADDLES and all it required was an SCN code.

I used a brand new wheel and paddles from my same year/era of cars. Everything fit perfectly and it plugged right into the module.

I need to know now a walkthrough and or someone who has the ability in Wisconsin to do it.

As as others said, everything is there and the install was a snap.
