Differential Oil Question

I have an 03 E500 & thinking about changing the differential oil. The manual called out 1.34 qts of 85W90 but I have plenty of 80W90. Is 85w90 thicker at start up? Would like to know which weight do you guys normally use? Thanks.

If the vehicle is a town car you should have no difficulty using 80W vs 85W and yes as you lower the prefix number the viscosity changes, in your case thiner
