"jerking" before and after stop......

I sometimes felt a little "JERKING", like choking on a manual transimission, while slowing down before the complete stop or before taking off from a stop. Does anyone ever felt that before? Is that normal??? (I don't think it has anything to do w/ my driving)

Oh, ok... so it's not just me. I was wondering if it has anything to do w/ me modifying the ECU chip. But, I remember that it happened before I did anything to the car. W0n6, did you have it checked out? do you know why it's happening? Is it serious?

Being that my 04 E320 was my first MB(and having friends that have had problems with theirs) and my first car over 50k I was abit hesitant to buy my 04 E320 being a previously conservative honda owner. Then I discovered that I had this problem of jerking and was terrified that my car could be a lemon. To top it off I met another w211 E class owner and he told me his car also had this problem and it had been with the dealer for over 3 months and hasn't been repaired. I completely lost faith in MB. I brought my car in and the only thing I could think was okay I better get a nice loaner since I'll probably use it for the next 3 months. Surprisingly the next day my service consultant called me and told me that they had discovered the problem and replaced a part and upgraded some firmware in the transmission and they were done. Now my car is perfect, no more jerking problems and runs fine. SO BRING YOUR CAR IN FOR THEM TO CHECK and they might be able to fix it in a day.

btw here's the feeling I had from my experience is that the car would jerk back and forth under 20 mph while cruising(no brake or gas applied) going downhill mostly or turning at a tight angle(such as parking) and a bit of a jerk when going from reverse to drive. Doesn't happen all the time but enough to notice it. For the first couple of thousand miles I just dealt with it hoping that it would go away and be just the new car feel. I would slightly applying gas or braking and the jerking would immediately stop.

ECU MOD

Rocket

Since I am the thread starter.. I had one worry about taking this problem to the dealer. I thought this happened because I modified the ECU chip. now realizing it's not. But, I still concern that if I take it to the dealer to have it checked.. they will refuse to service it or blame the problem on me, because of the ECU modification. I don't know.. anyone has the same problem w/ chipped ECU??

I don't know if I had a noise, I always drive with my windows up and a/c on. A friend of mine also has a modified ECU chip and his does not have the same problem. I'd bring it in and have them look at it. I'll look for the service papers which I think stated the part they had replace and if I find it, I'll let you all know.

Again bring in your cars, if your service rep says they can't find the problem bring your car to another service rep or dealer or take them for a ride and show them. This is an issue and it's not something that we should just deal with. We did not by Yugos, we bought 50+k MBs.

same problem here. I mentioned it to the service advisor, even took him for a testdrive, but, as usual, during the testdrive could not replicate it :-) They are still running tests on it, I'll let everyone know if they find anything.
