Fuel Pump Dead?

Car died while driving.

Tank half full.
No fuel in rail.
Fuse good.

Bypassed relay to get 12v at the fuel pump connector under the left passenger seat. Still no start (and no noise from pump). Sounds like the pump is bad.

But when I put an ohm meter on the leads to the fuel pump expecting no ohms (open circuit) I get 480 ohms (using two different meters).

Is it still the pump or does MB have some other circuit to test?

Replaced the fuel pump (easy job) and car fired right up. Pelican write-up was very helpful. Problem solved! However, a week later, it’s now taking 4-5 seconds of cranking to start like the fuel pressure is bleeding down. Any thoughts??

Hook up a "fuel pressure gauge tester", run the gauge to the windshield and tape it there or have it where you can see it in the engine compartment (but not fall into the rotating components!). Monitor the gauge at key on and when cranking. This will confirm proper/improper operation of the fuel pressurization sequence.

So i had starting issues with my 2000 s500 a few days ago in the morning. It would crank for 5-6 seconds , worried it would burn starter i would stop it . I attempted cranking several times with no luck. Blindly checked fuses with my wife watching me lol as she needed to get to work. Suddenly it started and worked fine for a day. Next morning same thing but this time it didnt turn over at all. I took battery out n got it tested apparently it was bad. Got a reconstructed h8 AGM battery, installed it and it cranks now but wont start again. Upon taking the cap on fuel rail and turning key i can see fuel is getting to injectors. I threw a bit of gas through carburetor and it starts but as soon as it burns it shuts off. Im stumped to what could be the cause? Any help is greatly appreciated
