Looked under car at differential and could not beleive what I saw?!

Last night I checked my differential and couldn't believe what I saw! The rear plate with two bushings had the right bushing missing. I could even see the threads. What do you all think? Note, I had been hearing a sound every time i let off the throttle so suspected the differential.

Note: The bottom caption should read \"Right side is differential with bushing missing".

Right side bushing gone and can see threads

Left side has bushing, right is empty and visible threads

Just a pic of differential

I am reading that this is normal but I find it hard to believe: https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe-c219/531055-missing-bolt-bushing-rear-axle.html

Is it somewhere in this part diagram? Maybe number 5? https://www.mbpartsus.com/a/Mercedes...L/5720675.html

I cannot figure out the diagram really. Anything preventing you from getting another bushing and going 'hammer time' on it to press the bushing in and find a suitable mounting screw? Looks ridiculous to me too

Hey Buddy,
Thanks for the response.
I cannot figure out the diagram either, and have looked for hours.
I have not tried to do anything yet, since I am getting conflicting information.
Some posts have indicated that this is "normal"?

But isn't this crazy?
Clean, shiny threads showing next to an open hole where you would think a bushing sits.
My plan was to confirm with a parts diagram, but after many days searching I cannot even find this assembly!!

Suggestions anyone?
Please help!

Progress!

I believe I have finally tracked down the potentially missing part number.
The bushing part number is 2113511142, and can be seen at this website which indicated TWO are required:

https://spareto.com/products/21765-m...-transfer-gear

It is attached to the rear suspension crossmember which is part number 2113507508:

https://mercedespartscenter.com/part...gramCallOut=11

The crossmember is part number 1 and the suspect bushing is number 5.

The question remains whether or not TWO or ONE bushing are required?

It is normal. Only one bushing required. My 2004 w211 E500 requires only one.
