W211 Wiper stalk circuit

Where does the wiper switch connect to? Is it directly to the fuse box or via somewhere else. My wipers aren’t working even though I changed the motor and changed the fuse. The motor does get around 12V but turning the switch makes no difference. The washer doesn’t work when the car is on but if you hold the washer button down when the car is off then turn the key the washers spray for about 2 seconds then go off (the wipers don’t turn). I don’t think the wiper switch is faulty and it might be somewhere in the connection between the switch and wipers.

I’ve had some issues with the wipers before. They stopped working, couldn’t find the problem but started working normally a couple months later and now have stopped again.

I’m still trying to find out where the wire are in the car but any idea what it could be? The fuse is fine, the motor was changed and both were tested with neither being faulty, the wipers still didn’t work. I checked and the motor is always getting around 12V even when the wiper switch is off. The windscreen washers don’t work even though the headlight washers work (the windscreen washers for for 2 secs, explained in my first post. This should confirm the switch works). The wipers randomly started working as normal once after they stopped working so I’m not sure what could’ve caused that.
is there anything I’m missing that needs to be checked?

Just had a similar issue, ended up being the relay under hood. Driver side of vehicle toward back of the car. You can swap it with communications relay to confirm operation.

Which relay is it as there isn’t anything about the wipers in the fuse/relay booklet?

You can swap it with other gray relay to confirm operation

I swopes It and it didn’t do anything. The rubber at the bottom of the windscreen is quite cracked up and I think water has gotten through there and affected the connections by the wiper motor. I’ll have to open that up and check.

Yeah, that would be the next step. Check for corrosion on connection to motor and junction box

At first glance the connector looks fine but if you look closer you can see a bit of green (copper corrosion) and if you open the flap there is corrosion inside. Once I cleaned that up the wipers and washers are (finally) working as normal.

I have the same issue, plugged in my icarsoft and got codes

9050–communication with component m6/1 (wiper motor) is interrupted
9052– component m6/1 is blocked
9053– component m6/1 is defective

Any recommendations on a place to buy a good working unit on the cheap? I’ve never had a wiper motor fail in a car, but the procedure for replacement seems simple enough so at least I can fix it myself.
if anyone has the part number available—to shop on eBay— that would also be highly appreciated so I don’t have to take things apart before I have the replacement ready.

Motor replaced! No fix .

Replaced motor , fuse, relay & still no luck . Can you confirm that the motor worked for you ? If so I might have to be changing the harness or the stalk itself

changing the motor worked for me. But check the harness first. It goes from the motor directly to the front SAM the cable isn’t that long. There was corrosion on the connector the first time the motor went.

P203e-000

Cleaned the harness and still no dice . I hooked up icarsoft and got code P203e-000 , I did research and found it is indicating the“ BUS signal error from combination switch “ also states it could be from instrument cluster . Would this confirm the stalk is faulty and needs replacing ? Or is “ combination switch “ something else ? TIA

Fixed

Turned out to be the harness connected to the SAM . Don’t know how or why but the wipers are now working again . Thanks for the info on where the wiring is located 👍🏼

Thanks - Mine was a missing relay...

I was looking around to find where to check next, is it the wiper motor broken bracket, is the indicator/wiper/light switch, or the SAM?
Was hoping it wasn't the SAM or even the switch which the wire can be located and fixed with a few good hours of fiddling about....

Found this thread and went to check the relay as its called "Relay - P Terminal 15R relay" - Not really a clue that its anything to do with the wiper/washer functions! Thanks MB.

Anyway, relay on my newly acquired 2008 E350 Sport was - AWOL, who knows who bothered to remove and never replace.

Got a regular relay and removed the 87a center pin to make it a 4 PIN relay to test and everything appears to be working just fine.

Must remember to get the right MB relay and replace...

So thanks for the Thread.

Cheers.
