It’s hard to say. I do use strutmaster coil conversion for my E550 4matic, it’s about firmer than stock but not harsh, I downsized rims to 17 which makes riding perfect. And it works well for one and half years, so far so good.
BTW, I did suspension job by myself, front struts were too low so I used spacers to correct it. if you have any question, let me know.

For me the 250k question is how good of maintenance has it had? How good is it cosmetically? I have seen 100k cars that are beat, and 200k that are sweet. I bought a W124 with 288k three years ago but had impeccable maintenance and records, now I am over 300k with nothing but maintenance (fluids and filters).
If the car is solid and you can get it for 1700.00 it would be a good deal.
